Just to advise once again we are advised to batten down the hatches with a couple of Tropical Cyclones about to hit QLD once again, however think we will only get some wind and possibly some rain. Think those up north and over in WA are going to cop it pretty bad. The one off Fiji is the one that is making everyone frightened.
To think a little over 2wks ago Qld was deluged with floods and now this - what is happening to the planet!!!!!!
Grey Nomads in our poptop caravan, based at Caloundra but travelling, doing some house sits which still allows us to travel and see the country without always taking the van.

Got the deposit
It arrived in the post today - officially now the big caravan at Sunseeker Village is sold, just need to find out from the guy when he plans to arrive up here - good job well done. Advertised in on the net and it only lasted 1week, have the small dingy on there also and had a guy ring today about it so will be good for someone to get some use out of it, that will leave me with the big boat more practical and comfy has a motor so no need for oars - catch you later.

First Public Holiday for the New Year
Yep it's a holiday here for us and it's a biggie the Australia Day celebrations, and I have to admit the Aussie's do it far better than the Kiwi's - sorry for that (Australia Day is like Waitangi Day)
It is a fantastic day here and it is 0845am and already 26c going to be a warm one and we will be swimming at some stage. We plan to go to the caravan at the village and do some weeding and spraying and Brian also wants to do some touch up painting, we are cleaning the carpets on Sunday we want to have it looking nice - not that it is not, for when the guy from SA-Adelaide arrives in 2wks. He sent his parents to view the van as they only live about 20mins away, they were very impressed and relayed it back to him, it will be good to get rid of the van as it seems a shame to have it just sitting there. Other than this we don't have anything planned so will away and get some breakfast. The photo is of the famous Australia Day Dunny race that is held each year at the Etamogah Pub, they run the race on the service road this runs along side the H/Way heading north it is a huge day and one that everyone enjoys it is always crowded.

Fine weather sees us at the beaches
Well after some really shocking weather it has rained for weeks and weeks and then we had the huge deluge of the QLD floods. We are on a slope here at FKS and therefore the drainage is great it just runs off and there are also huge drainage pits so not a problem for us.
With this fine weather we decided to take to a couple of lovely beaches and go to the surf clubs for lunch.
Last weekend we headed north to Coolum and had a nice lunch on the balconey.
And today saw us head south to Bribie Island, this trip was to mainly go and check on Terry and Patricia's caravan that they have stored in a paddock, Brian wondered if it had sunk into the ground but the old NZ Zephyr appears to be fine we were wondering if it is a bit mouldy inside from all the damp and humidity - now that is something Patricia will find out in May when they arrive back. We again ended up at the Bribie Island Surf Club for a light lunch the restaurant was crowded by 1.00pm, so thankful we went when we did instead of waiting to go a bit later, the surf club is actually at the tip of bribie at a place named Woorium and this is where terry and Patricia stay at the caravan park.We will go down a couple of times with our van while T & P are in camp. Even though the surf was chocolate brown from all the run off and whatever was coming out of the Brisbane river there were still alot of people in swimming.
These photos were taken at Coolum Beach which is north of us on the coast.
Here are a few pics from Bribie Island, to get to Bribie - Woorium we head south for about 30mins from our place and then turn toward the coast, from the highway to Bribie - Woorium is about 70km.

So who had a birthday???
Thursday 20th saw Chris have another birthday - NO it is not the big 0 one, that is next year
We had a nice day, Chris did not have to work that day so it was a good reward.
We went out in the evening for dinner and a bit of a stroll along the boardwalk the evening was fantastic.
The workers here Kerry and David bought Chris a birthday cake and "Miss Brown" David's little Jack Russell gave Chris a Bingo scratchy - which she won $6, thank you Kerry,David and "Miss Brown" from Chris.

Happy New Year to all our family and friends
Well we hope you all had a great New Year and saw in 2011, we did which was great. We had a great night around 8.00pm saw us head out and off to Kings Beach which is an amazing beach about 20mins from us, we had heard there were to be Fire Works there at 9.15pm. We drove to Caloundra and along with 100s of other people parked our car and walked the boardwalk around to Kings beach, it was a beautiful evening, we found a good spot on the bank and sat and waited for the display to begin on time at 9.15pm.
It was a fantastic display and went for around 20mins so well worth going and seeing, there was a bit of a strong wind blowing so some of the fireworks had a bit of trouble getting up high however it was still a great time.
We made a slow trip back to the car with many others all armed with torches it looked really pretty. In the car and we were home in no time.
We sat and had a few drinks and watched the TV I think we watched the show they had in the park at Brisbane, and the fireworks at midnight from the Sydney Harbour Bridge that was fantastic. That was our New Year, another quiet one however we did see it in.
Hope you all have a great 2011.

Christmas Day - 2010
We had a lovely Christmas Day even though it was very quiet we did have a great day.
We awoke to an overcast kind of day and it did not look like we would be swimming at all. We had been having really shocking weather for this time of year not very summer like at all.
Both Chris and I got up and opened our parcels from each other and some that Yasmine had kindly posted over for us, we were both very spoiled. Breakfast over it was then time to do the ringing to NZ and catch up with most of the family, as Chris's family well some of them were getting together on Boxing Day at Angela's Chris would catch up with them all on the 26th, we did chat with Yasmine,Adam and Rory before they went off for their Christmas lunch.
We went to our very special friends Helen and David Waldron's for Christmas lunch it ws lovely we had a mixture of hot and cold, we offered to take a roast chicken, some frozen peas, pavlova, cream, strawberries and Chrismas Crackers. We had a great time with our friends and decided around 2.30 to head off for home and on the way we called in to see Victoria and the granddies Oliva and Jamie and give them their christmas parcels.
Only a week earlier
we had Caroline and grandaughter Alesha come and stay from up Gladstone, so we managed to catch up with all the family which was great.
We left Vickys and headed home to rest and have a snooze, one thing we did not need any dinner on Christmas night.
