Little Mountain

October 22 - 2014

This plant has just started coming out in the garden - look at the colours - what do you see? the flower is very like a bottle brush. I did'nt know what it was so asked my good friend Keryn and she informs me it is a Golden Pend - or Expo Gold. Seems they come from Northern Qld and were bred in 1988 for Expo. The colour of the plant is like the wattles this is where the Australian teams get their uniform colours from, the Wattles & Expo Gold - pretty cool hey. And 3 pics of the house, it is very light and airey and heaps of room for us to rattle around in.

A few misc photos

The below plant is known as a Grass Tree or (Blackboy) as the flower stems turn black.

Beautiful Pink Mandevilla

And yet another Pineapple is emerging.

Beautiful Roses I picked today

And my favourite bird popped in for a visit

The beautiful Lorrikeet on the Bottlebrush out the front of the house, they love the flowers.

The Lorikeets are really loving the nectar from the flowers on the Grass Tree, the photo is a bit blury as it was taken from inside. It's amazing the flower steam came back up straight the next day.

A trip to Noosa

Saturday 18th October

Saw us make a trip up to Noosa what a place to find your way around it is a maze of roundabouts more roundabouts and still more roundabouts. We went to a new houseing estate called Elysium talk about flash. Brian went to buy a golf club off a guy hence the drive up there. We finally found our way and the guy lives right on the edge of the golf course he said he doesnt play there as it is so expensive. once the golf club was purchased we made our way back out of the maze took a couple of photos of the golf course then headed via the coast to Perigian Beach,Coolum, Mudjimba and then back to Little Mountain.

Brian sitting on the fence at Perigian Beach note the sign above him - I was keeping a look out.

Logrunner 2

Below photos show the gateway in to the property, it is a large property infact huge grounds, we only have to look after a very small part of the grounds, the pool is all automatic also.

Below photo is looking from the road into the property

This is a short of the road that runs along the front all the living is out the back so out of sight from the road and this is not a busy road as there are very few houses.

Above photo shows daughter Candy with little grandaughter Lylah, Patsy the homeowner with grandson Ryder (Lylah 18mth and Ryder 4 are brother and sister )

Above photo Patsy and Ryder
And below photo is Tianah she was about to dance to us and she certainly could dance. Tianah and Candy are going to India with Patsy and Kevin.

Logrunner Drive

Sunday 19th October

Today we headed down to Morayfield as we had been invited down for lunch with our next house owners, their families and a couple of friends. Morayfield is about 45mins south of the Sunshine Coast we drove through the hinterland a very pretty drive which takes you through Landsboroughhh, Beerwah (where Australia Zoo is) Glasshouse Mountains, Elimbah and through to Caboolture, then Morayfield. It is a big place one where we feel we could live, everything is there so not really any need to go into the city. Speaking of which when we are staying at Log runner Drive we are going to take the train and head into Brisbane for a day something different. We had a great lunch and once again Pat and Kevin had so much food you could have fed an army. Patsy is from India (that's where they are going) so we had yummy Indian food the smells and flavours were divine and nothing hot which suited us. This place has a lovely pool, huge section so heaps of room for golf practise, riding bikes lol and for Rahj the dog to run around. We had a very pleasant day with them all and left around 4.00pm heading back home the back way rather than travel the crazy Bruce Highway.

Rahj is a Kelpie, he is just beautiful.

10 Pin Bowls - Michael's Birthday

Friday 17th October

Tonight along with our Line Dancing friends we made our way into Maroochydore to Suncity Bowl for a couple of games of 10 Pin Bowls, the occasion was our dancing tutor Karen - it was Karen's son Michael's 21st. He is an avid 1- pin bowls player and Brisbane Bronco's fan (see cake) his mum asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday ( he has special needs) he is very sociable and loves being around the line dancers, anyway his mum gave him a great night with the Suncity Bowls putting on food platters. It was a great night with all our friends and was lovely to be able to celebrate Michaels special day. I made him a card with Broncos logos etc on it and with the cake it seemed very appropriate. We arrived home around 1030pm feeling a bit tired, made a cuppa and headed to bed.

The Line Dancing group, our teacher, Michael's mum Karen is in the front blue top with the birthday boy beside her.

And just look at this amazing cake - it was a caramel mud cake, nowhere near as sweet as a choc mud cake.

Thats Brian with the striped shirt on, I didnt play as my back and hips were too sore.

This is the digital card that I made for Michael and Brian printed it out on the computer.

Montville 2

The tin sculptures were stunning - I loved the Rooster and Chooks.

What about this handsome couple.

Montville

Wednesday 15th October

It was a lovely day so I said to Brian lets head to Montville for a drive. As we wont really be based on the Sunshine Coast next year we thought we might as well get out and about and see some places as it will be the last time for a while. Montville is in the hinterland and is up on top of the Blackball Range, a very pretty drive. You don’t go here at weekends as you can never find a park it is packed full of people and cars. We found a spot no probs for the Tribby and grabbed our water bottles and headed down the hill for a walk and look at the shops. Very touristy however always nice when it is not crowded. We headed to our favourite coffee shop overlooking the valley and out to the sea and over the Sunshine Coast, it was a great day and was very clear so we had a good view. Coffee over and another walk along the other side of the street we made our way back to the car and headed back down the range and home - a nice easy and relaxing day.

BBQ for the birthday

Saturday 11th October

Today was Vicky's birthday and as she was on her own with Ady away working in WA we said how about coming over for lunch with the kids. We had a BBQ with salads etc and no dessert as we had a small choc mud cake instead. It was a nice day not too hot so we sat outside and enjoyed our lunch. The kids played around and then we sat inside and watched a DVD. Later in the arvo Vicky’s drove off home with the kids and we just relaxed for the remainder of the day. It was great catching up with Vicky and the kids as we had not seen them in a while.

A new Hibiscus flower has come out

Bit of an update

Isn't this a great pic of Aussie, very clear shot - NO I did'nt take it

Ok so what have we been up to lately. Well not alot actually, enjoying the house and surroundings. Although we have been getting out and about had a couple of social get together's one with the Line Dancing group and another was lunch with our next home-owners and their family. The weather is warming up a bit and we have got the caravan all ready for putting into storage at the end of the month. Have had a local canvas/vinyl repair shop do a couple of fixes on one end of the annexe and also the roof pod bag, so when we get them back next week all will be good. The beds will be made ready for the end of January, we have booked into the Big4 Caravan park at Caloundra for 8nights before we head north to Bauple. We worked it out that the Big4 was cheaper than going back to Sunseeker Village as they have no kitchen and the facilities are a bit to be desired, normally there is only 1 washing machine that works for the whole of the van park. At the Big4 we know we are getting value for money, it is in the heart of Caloundra so we can walk everywhere, there is a pool, it is right on the Pumicestone Passage, has very modern facilities and we have been down and picked our site well away from the road, as we are Big4 members we get 10% discount and as we are staying over 7nights we also get 1 night stay FREE gotta luv that. So with that all done Poppy will be waiting for us in 2015. We also got our tent out to see if we could remember how it all goes together - yippee we did. It is a 2room Black Wolf tent a really nice one fully screened with fly, loads of air vents that are all zipped, even the roof has vents that open and are covered with insect screens, it's a great tent and we would not get rid of it . Below link is for the Caloundra Caravan Park where we will be late January for the 8nights.

Our Tent - free accoms for any visitors  hahahahaha, the part where the black mesh area is the living area, the domed area is the bedroom. The tent is tall enough for Brian to stand up in. We have had the tent of ages, just need to remember how it goes together its easy as.

Below photo is of a Noisy Miner Bird on the Kangaroo Paw plant

The Race Is On

I heard a hell of a commotion the other morning outside at the bird feeder, I could hear the magpie and went to have a look. A bloody old Bush Turkey had come to investigate the loose seed that had been spilt onto the ground and thought he would have some of the easy pickings. The old Maggie was having none of that and next minute I see the Old Turkey doing a hasty run across the front lawn and along the road - Magpie 1 - Turkey Nil
