Into Morayfield and a few plants

06 November 2014

Headed into Morayfield this morning to get fuel for the car and we needed to go to the post shop for stamps and a posting box. The few Christmas cards that we needed to post to the UK,Scotland and USA were posted while there, Christmas stamps for the rest we have to post which is very few now days were purchased. Had a item of clothing that needed to be exchanged for the birthday boy, item exchanged and time to head outta there, think it was benefit/pension day as the mall was crowded with olds and no hoper. We then drove over to Burpengary to the Hub as my friend Keryn had told us there was a great F and Chip shop the called Maria's, we found our way and the shop, sat and had them outside at the little table and chairs. We have become very particular now when buying fish as we like to know where the fish comes from!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after seeing a prog on the fish that is coming out of places like Vietnam, Thailand etc - Barramundi was the choice - however it was not that brilliant I said to Brian we wont be going all that way again just to get F and C so think they will be off the menu once again. We haven't had them in yonks and Brian wanted them for his birthday tea but I said no and cooked chops and veg instead - lol . We had a good storm come through tonight however it was mostly all noise and lightening, we did get a shower of rain but really nothing substantial, the grounds are parched and in need of water badly, we do sprinkle the small area of garden where there are bedding plants but due to the fact that they pay through the nose for water here we use it sparingly so we were kind of hopeing we would get a good downpour. We brought Raj the Kelpie inside and he lay on his bed inside the door he is terrified of thunder, he went back outside when we went to bed as it had all passed by then. He barked alot during the night/early morning there could have been Kangaroos or possums around who knows I do know a human would not get into the property with Raj on guard.

Raj the beautiful Kelpie

Raj is just a delight to look after he has so much room to run around and play we don't even have to walk him. He loves playing with his ball, drags around old palm fronds and when we arrived he had a blue plastic bucket that he loved to play with however he demolished it and we threw it out as bits were breaking off and we didn't want him swallowing any of it. He sleeps outside on his bed and only comes in if there s thunder or lightening with storm season here currently.

And see the saga of the plastic bucket.........

Who says Pilates is only for humans!!!!!!!!!

Birds

06 November 2014

In a stand of trees just out from the clothesline there is a very small nest up in the tree with a large adult Tawny Frogmouth and two chicks nesting. All along we thought there was only one chick but when Chris's friend arrived around for a cuppa  the girls went out to have a look at the nest to find not one but two baby chicks up there looking down at them.

Olive Backed Oriole - this bird has a beautiful bird call and sits in the trees outside the kitchen window.

Caboolture Sth 2

Monday 03 November    (22yrs today since my dear mum died - RIP mum love and miss you daily, never a day goes by that I don't think of you.xxx)

A much cooler day today, Saturday/Sunday were very very warm, thank god for the pool, really cools you down. We headed into Moray field this morning to do some essential food shopping, going to the Moray field shopping centre (Terry and Patricia will know where I mean) it is huge, Brian has been here before but not me. We had a walk around the centre before heading to Coffee Club for a drink then hit Woollies for the essentials - with the shopping done we headed home to Raj. Raj is a lovely Kelpie dog, he is so good does his own thing, sleeps outside and only comes in if there is a storm due to the thunder and lightening. It was very overcast today much cooler in fact we closed all the windows and the door tonight as it was a bit chilly. Not far from the kitchen window there is a Tawny Frog mouth Owl sitting on a nest with a baby chick, on Saturday we got a real surprise when the chick popped up so a rush inside to grab the camera and got some great shots. With Raj on the property there is no way in hell that anyone or thing would get in before he heard you, birds can’t even settle on the lawn before he chases them off. Did you know that the Kelpie breed of dag is 99% wolf and 1% dog - a bit of trivia. We had word today that Brian has been booked back in for his CT scan tomorrow, so back up to Warana once again for the scan, then back to the surgeon on Monday for a follow up and the scan results.
