Off to Caboolture South

Friday 31st October

Yep this is the day we leave Little Mountain, head south to Caboolture Sth just 45mins from L Mountain for our next house sit before we head over to NZ for Christmas/New Year. We had a bit of a stuff up morning as Brian had to have his CT scan done at Warana before we could head away - once again Murphy’s Law things did not go to plan, the Radiology had blood results that showed a few issues therefore they would not do the scan, sending us to see the Dr. Arrived at the Dr however fully booked but due to the fact we need the scan done before the next surgeon visit on the 10th Nov they fitted Brian in at 1245. We decided to head back to Little Mountain to have some lunch then Brian would go back on his own while I stayed and did the final packing and cleaning. With the blood tests done Brian text to say he was on his way home. Once back we loaded the car, locked the house and headed to Caboolture Sth arriving at approx 3.30pm. We were greeting by Raj the beautiful Kelpie, it was bloody hot so we unloaded and sat outside under the pergola and had a cuppa enjoying the lovely semi rural surroundings.

Thursday 30th October:

The day was going to be pretty warm so we got up and on the move early as today we took the caravan to Bionic Storage where our furniture is kept. It is secure,covered and safe there as we do not now need her until January when we move to the Big4 Holiday Park at Caloundra.

Almost time to leave

Tuesday 28th October:

Well the weather here has certainly warmed up pretty quick and it has arrived earlier than usual. Today we have reloaded the van and almost done all the cleaning the only thing to be done now is vacum the floor and run the fridge and cooker tomorrow on gas to make sure they still go. Other than that she is all ready to be moved on Thursday. Here are a few more pics of the beautiful Rose bush at the front door, they are all coming out with the heat, I was hopeing there would be a couple

of buds that I would be able to pick and cut for the home-owners when they arrive back on Saturday however somehow I don’t think there will be any left - bugger eh Murphy's Law. If this weather keeps up at least the pool down at Caboolture will be warm.

A visit to friends at Worrim

Monday 27th October: 

Today saw us heading down to Worrim to see our good friends ex Kiwis from Auckland in fact they didn't live far from you Graeme in Mangere,I worked with Margaret at Soar Printing in Onehunga and have stayed in contact they lived in Waterlea Ave. They have purchased an old but goody caravan and when we went to see them at their home in Jimboomba they said where is a good place to go for a few days, we suggested Worrim and as I started to say before I got sidetracked they are there, so we went down to say hi, has a seniors lunch at the local Blue Poo Terry and Patricia's stomping ground when they are in residence at Worrim then across to a small cafe on the other side of the road for a coffee and chatted for an hour or so sitting under the umbrella as it was pretty dam hot but we were in the shade, the cafe is owned by a Maori lady and she has called it "Slice of Heaven" taken from Footrot Flats - see the black fern on the wall, gotta love that. From there it was time to head back to the camp and collect our chairs and gear before heading back up the bloody Bruce H/Way and home again to Little Mountain arriving back around 4.15, it was a race whether the storm would beat us or not Us 1 - Storm Nil.

Rose and Kooka and Roo

Friday 24th October:

My mate Mr Kooka called in for another visit, he was studying me so hard - just look at the expression on his face. The rose at the front door is in bloom and the fragrance is just amazing I am all most certain it is a Rose called Double Delight.And over the back fence I saw a small Roo.

Minimal Cost Involved

Tuesday 23rd October:

In the pop top roof of the caravan we have a rear vent for air and light, it has two smaller zips that allow for opening, however the zip on the RH Side had broken and you could not open the zip fully it would only open part way which was a bloody pain. I said to Brian I think I could fix it myself. On Wednesday when Brian went off to the golf driving range I rang around numerous van places to ask about getting it repaired and or if they did mobile repairs - NO mobile repairers - and all of them said the roof would have to come off to do the job, it is not an easy job and cost around $400!!!!!! so the next day we headed to Spotlight where I purchased some upholstery thread as it is much stronger than normal thread, a long solid needle and a zip, all up under $30. I managed to do the bottom side of the zip myself however the top side was more difficult as you were fighting against the pressure of the roof, so with Brian on the outside with a rope and my inside pulling the roof down slightly to take pressure off, Brian tied the roof down to allow us some slack. Brian was on the inside of the van pushing the needle through the original holes and I was on the outside standing on a ladder pushing the needle back blind until we devised a way of me finding the correct spot to push the needle back (Brian poked a pin through to show me where the hole was) eventually the zip was in working like a dream and cost was minimal - so how can these van repairers charge so much when they have all the tools on hand. The next day Brian went off to Bunnings to purchase some strong glue and we put this over the stitching for extra reinforcing. As long as we are not rough with the zip it should be fine, we now have both zips working that allows more light and air in. We also took all the insect screens off and gave them a wash. So the van is all spick and span now until we need her in January before we head north.

Little Mountain

October 22 - 2014

This plant has just started coming out in the garden - look at the colours - what do you see? the flower is very like a bottle brush. I did'nt know what it was so asked my good friend Keryn and she informs me it is a Golden Pend - or Expo Gold. Seems they come from Northern Qld and were bred in 1988 for Expo. The colour of the plant is like the wattles this is where the Australian teams get their uniform colours from, the Wattles & Expo Gold - pretty cool hey. And 3 pics of the house, it is very light and airey and heaps of room for us to rattle around in.

The beautiful Lorrikeet on the Bottlebrush out the front of the house, they love the flowers.

The Lorikeets are really loving the nectar from the flowers on the Grass Tree, the photo is a bit blury as it was taken from inside. It's amazing the flower steam came back up straight the next day.

A trip to Noosa

Saturday 18th October

Saw us make a trip up to Noosa what a place to find your way around it is a maze of roundabouts more roundabouts and still more roundabouts. We went to a new houseing estate called Elysium talk about flash. Brian went to buy a golf club off a guy hence the drive up there. We finally found our way and the guy lives right on the edge of the golf course he said he doesnt play there as it is so expensive. once the golf club was purchased we made our way back out of the maze took a couple of photos of the golf course then headed via the coast to Perigian Beach,Coolum, Mudjimba and then back to Little Mountain.

Below photos show the gateway in to the property, it is a large property infact huge grounds, we only have to look after a very small part of the grounds, the pool is all automatic also.

This is a short of the road that runs along the front all the living is out the back so out of sight from the road and this is not a busy road as there are very few houses.
