Barroga Again

25th  May 2015

Took Miss Gemma along to the Barooga Botanical Gardens again for a walk/run. It is so nice and quiet there and she can run along on her long lead without having to worry about people and or other animals around, mostly we have the park to ourselves which is great.

A walk along the Levy

22nd May 2015

Decided as it was such a nice morning we would take Miss Gemma for a walk along the Levy bank. On our way back we saw a small Paddle boat at the boat ramp at Tocumwal - the boat was named Cobba and is based at Cobram only 20mins away from Tocumwal. We have decided not to go back to Echuca as we have been there 3 times and were only going to go back to do another paddle boat ride. Instead we will support the local guys at Cobram and do one on the Cobba.

Bonus

Went for a drive to the Timeout Resort last Friday night to see if we could find any Koala. We have been here before and always found them in the trees on the entrance road. Not this night we had left a bit late getting there and it was almost dark, we drove along the road and found none so by now it was dark and we decided to head back to the house. Heading out along the road I jammed on the breaks as we could see eyes glowing  - no knowing what it was and thinking possum but no a lonely Koala female ever so slowly crossing the road. We managed to stop and get a good look but not managing ton get a good photo - we did get 1 only and have a good look at her which was way better than seeing them in a tree. When you see how slow they move is it any wonder they get hit by cars and trucks. She was not afraid at all after about 5mins she just walked off into the bush and we headed back home very pleased with what we saw.To get to the Timeout Resort we cross the bridge that spans the Murray River forming the border between NSW and VIC so ever so briefly we drove into VIC to see the Koala.

Barooga Botanical Gardens 1

Sunday May 17th

Awoke to another lovely day so decided to take Miss Gemma for a walk, Linda and Glenn had told us about a lovely walk through the Barooga Botanical Gardens, so we decided to head off there. Once again the colors are stunning. Early in 1992 Geoff Brentnall put forward a detailed proposal to establish Botanical Gardens in Barooga on the old cricket ground site. This consisted of six acres of Crown land under the control of the Shire of Berrigan which was being used as a drainage basin for storm water. The gardens were established in 1992 and opened in 1993 they cover an area of approximately 6 acres of Crown land under the control of the Shire of Berrigan which was being used as a drainage basin for storm water. The gardens were officially opened on Sunday November 21, 1993 at 4.00p.m. By Jim Small MP Member for Murray. (we wonder if he is a distant rellie?) A commemorative plaque and sundial have been placed in the gardens in recognition of this occasion.

The two photos below area a recent addition to the gardens and is carved from Cypress depicting an Aboriginal and Indigenous animals, it really is amazing

Next two photos show the Geoff Brentnall Rotunda, named after the man who established the Botanical Gardens in 1992.

And a few more photos of Autumn Colors

Miss Gemma

Little Miss Gemma is a pure bred Dachshund (sausage dog) we were advised that she is a ladies dog however we have found this to be false, she is Brian's shadow and just adores him, may be something to do with the fact that he feeds her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she is spoilt rotten runs the house however she is finding things a bit different to when her owners are here - LOL

Photo below - yep it was bloody cold hence the warm gear

Tocumwal 6

The below two photos can give you an idea of what the Town Beach Camp on the Murray River is like, as you can see there were are few caravans, buses, camper trailers and the odd tent staying, you are allowed to camp here for 6wks at a time and at $10per night its pretty good value.

Below photo shows an old Red armchair that was sitting all alone under the trees - no one took it

We had a couple of nights which were really calm and I loved the lighting so took these photos  - these were taken on our last night there.

Tocumwal 4 A Roo or Two

While camped at Town Beach every morning/afternoon the Roos used to bound through eating the short grass, one morning I was still in bed reading as it was too cold to get up we decided to stay in and have a cuppa. I pulled back the curtains and looked out to see a mother and youngin right outside chomping on the grass - they were not afraid either.
