Arrival Woombye

We arrived at our next house sit on Saturday and we are here until almost the end of October. A lovely old Queenslander which has an amazing patio along the back of the house where we have our cuppa's and even a bite to eat sitting in the sun. Big grounds however there is a ride on mower which the lad has tried out already. Two small Shitzu/Maltese dogs both females Scout and Kiko and a mangy old cat who stears clear of us called Kimba however she eats her tucker when no one is around. Railway line runs along the bottom of the section we are not bothered with it as there is a large high fence and many trees/shrubs which stop any noise. News update from the home owner on their home:

The older part of our house was a farmer's cottage built around 1900. It features in historical photos of Woombye around that time. So possibly after Cobb and Co. We have survey maps showing the house and associated farm covered about 5 acres which have been subdivided since the early 1970s.

Young Oscar

Is so full of beans, who would have a kitten!!!!!!!!!!!!! he is a biter/nipper, when you are not looking he will come up for a smooch around your legs and next minute he gives you a bite. He wants food all the time and if he cannt get it he meows and meows. Non stop kitten fun.

 

 

 

 

Almost time to move on

Thursday 25 August

Well tomorrow is our last day here at Sippy Downs. Saturday see us move to Woombye only a 20min drive north near the town of Nambour. Woombye is a very small community, we are looking forward to going there. At the end of the street/section is the railway line that goes through to Brisbane. More on Woombye once we are there. Today at Sippy Downs is cleaning day before the home owners arrive home tomorrow so all must be spick and span.
We had the line up at the fence yesterday for a feed, Helen and David feed the birds wild bird seed mix. The young Cygnet's are growing really fast and learning to fly across the late they have not managed to actually get airborne yet but it won't be long. The black/white bird is a (Magpie Goose).

 

 

Once more at Sippy Downs

We managed to finally talk Helen and David into going out to Longreach and Winton in their caravan, they have this flash caravan that they hardly use with all the whistles and bells goodness knows why they don't go away more often. Oh I know why now they have a $900 5mth old Birman kitten named Oscar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so we are minding the house for a couple of weeks and also looking after Oscar until they come back. We will head directly to our next house sit from here which is at Woombye only about 20mins north up near Nambour. While there Yasmine and Rory are coming over for a visit, Yasmine staying a week then returning back to Christchurch then I will bring Rory back a week later, fun times ahead. While at Woombye we have two small dogs and an old cat to care for. We leave here on the 27th August so this will be the only post from here, will update once we are at Woombye. Brian is booked back into Selangor Private for another routine cystoscopy on October 20th, lets hope we get another good result.

 

Banksia Beach over for 2016

Arrived at the Prom at the end of May and it is hard to believe our stay has ended

infact we departed last Wednesday The home owners actually came home a week

earlier than the original plan due to the unrest in Istanbul. A change of their itinerary, cruises,trips, flights etc - all good, we moved into the caravan for a week, which let us catch up Terry and Patricia as they are just around the corner walking distance in a nice holiday apartment ground floor, ocean view and SKY TV - hahaha even we didn't have that at the flashy on The Promontory. From Woorim we headed to the Sunshine Coast staying at our friends Helen & David Waldron's while they go away and we will mind young Oscar the kitten ( Birman ) we are at Sippy Downs for a couple of weeks before we head to Woombye for a 2mth house sit. Helen & David are heading to Longreach and Winton, we have been out there and loved it so talked them into it - lol. They are coast/beach people where we love the outback and vastness + peace and quiet.

Happy 10th Birthday to Jamie and Misc

Jamie turned 10 in July so Vicky and the kids came down for lunch which was nice to see them.

Brahminey Kite

One afternoon we sat down at the beach at Worrim watching the boats, container boats and a cruise ship go past that my friend was on. While we were sitting there we watched the antics of a beautiful Brahminey Kite

 

Thanks Yasmine & Rory

They went over to Governor's Bay and called into see Nana & Grandad, popping flowers on their special resting place at the cemetery, calling into the "She Cafe" on the way home. Thanks love for doing this.

 

More Misc

One day we were down at Bongeree and saw this guy pull up outside the ice cream shop, came out with a paper, some milk and 2 cream freeze ice creams for his Border Collies.

 

 

Brian tried his hand at getting a feed of crab from the Pontoon - only caught a small one which went back in for next year.

 

More Friends arrived

One of my old friends from Soar Printing days in Auckland came over to stay for a weekend with their friends. They were staying at some motels and we met them at the waterfront for a natter and coffee, while there the Pelicans & Seagulls were also present, Margaret leaning out taking a photo it was a beautiful day.

 

Saw this family cruising the canal one weekend afternoon and thought how bloody crazy is that father - just look at the kids on that boat all young, pre schoolers and all there were about 5kids total and NO LIFE JACKETS on them - bloody crazy. If that kid at the front had fallen in hate to think if the boat prop went over her or worse there are Bull Sharks in the canals.

Heavy Fog & Dolphins

Awoke to very heavy fog one morning, have never seen it like this before.

 

Yep one morning I saw a huge wave in the canal and then saw a fin!!!!!!!!!!! at first I thought it was a shark, I raced inside for the camera then down onto the pontoon and see it was Dolphins.

Beautiful beaches of Bribie Island, great for boating,swimming,kite surfing etc.
