Just Hanging Around

Monday 7th September 2015

On Monday we were coming back from Caloundra where I went to re-new my driver licence for another 5yr $160.00 thank you!!!!!!!!!!! best thing was we were there before lunch time, took my number,sat down and waited less than 5mins, my number was called, signed the paper,photo taken,paid the $$$$ and we were outta there. Called into our storage shed on the way back to get our table for the carvan,we needed the bigger one for our next 7night stay at Worrim from Sunday. Arrived back at the house around 1.30pm to see a hang glider just take off one of the slopes he flew over the house a few times and I managed to get a few shots it was very clear.

I love taking photos of different textures and just loved the bark on a couple of trees.

 

 

Chooks and more Maleny

The black chook keeps escaping she is a real bitch, we blocked up where we thought she was getting out and the only place we could find - but still she gets out, they love to free roam late in the afternoon and are all back in before 6.00pm they just go in on their own which is great. Daily eggs also yahoo.

Maleny 2

The house is on a large lot and is a raised home overlooking the lovely grounds, vegie plots ,chook run (they free range in the afternoon) citrus trees alot of native trees and shrubs, which are full of birdlife. The house is so high that when you look out the rear of the property you feel like you are in the trees.

 

 

Plenty Of Citrus Available

We will make sure we have bags full when we leave on Sunday, Grapefuit (not the sweet ones Yasmine - these need sugar) Oranges about 4 different varieties and lemons. All thriving.

 

Maleny In The Hinterland

5th September 2015

Maleny is a small, scenic town 90 kilometres north of Brisbane on the Blackall Range overlooking the Sunshine Coast hinterland in Queensland, Australia. Nearby towns include Landsborough, Montville, Peachester, Palmwoods and Hunchy.

Awoke to a beautiful day for our departure from Bribie Island and our arrival at Maleny. We had packed most of the gear up the evening before so this morning was an easy pack up. We dropped Poppy off back at Flash's storage area at Bribie and headed north through Landsbrough and up to Maleny where we started our next house sit. A nice home in the hinterland on a large block, lots of trees, birds,citrus trees that are loaded, Mr Kitty the cat and Harvey the dog (a rescue dog that had been badly mistreated - he always looks sad) and YES there are chooks and they are providing us with eggs daily. We are here until Sunday 13th when we head back to Worrim staying in Poppy before we once again move south to Bahrs Scrub - but that's another instalment.

Farewell Jedda

2 September 2015

Today Maria and Graham arrived home, they flew into Brisbane at 6.30am however the arrivals area of the airport was so busy it took them 3hrs to get through, Graham was told all the aircraft had arrived early along with their flight so there was alot of backlog to get through customs and immigration before their flight could even start to be processed. They arrived home finally around 9.30am, we made a cuppa and had this with them before handing over their home,dog and keys. Maria and Graham looked absolutely shattered so we left them to it and headed to Worrim where we picked up our caravan from the storage area and drove the very short distance to the van park. We checked in and were set up in no time as we were only staying for 3nights before we headed to our next house sit Maleny where we are currently.

The Humans Are Due Home

1st September 2015

I've been told that my humans are due home tomorrow and I need a bath as I smell a bit stinky, I noticed this morning my bed had also disappeared and is now hanging on the line so it must have been a bit pongy also.

A Few Misc Ones

Maria and Graham have a beautiful garden and gorgeous birds in an aviary, we only lost one found dead on the bottom of one of the aviary's about two days before they were due home.

These Beautiful Little Superb Fairy Wrens

These amazing little birds move with the speed of grease lightning literally they move so fast infact they are very hard to take photos of. There were about 6 of them that lived in the hedge out the front and this little bloke found his way up the palm tree next door, the males are so colourful, the female is pale brown.

This planter sits in the middle of the gazebo it always looks so pretty.

Oh Nothing Better Than A Bone

Now you see it, now you don't

The day had finally arrive for the bloody monster of a tree at the back of the property to finally be gone. Maria and Graham told us before they left that the tree hopefully would be cut down. We had a false alarm however the neighbour arrived one afternoon to advise it was now happening on Friday Aug 21st, we didn't hole our breath incase it never happened. Well thank goodness it did. The tree was in the neighbour's property and was causing damage and it blocked all the sunlight out of Maria and Grahams property in the back yard. Finally the morning arrived and we saw around 4 guys and chainsaws arrive on the property next door, by 5.30pm all the tree foliage was down and only the trunk remained. They came back on the Saturday with a whole group of the couzzie bros and rellies and a massive mulcher and truck by midday it was all done. The homeowners will be stoked. Yasmine saw this tree for herself so she knows exactly how huge it was. The best thing is there is now sunlight in the back yard until at 1700pm. The guys that did the job were all friend and relatives they were Polynesians from Apia, very quiet and just got on with the job.
