And so to Coolum

April 1st 2016
Coolum by the beach a coastal seaside suburb not cheap and it's become very popular. We have an older home in original 60s style, wooden floors,archways etc. It is comfortable close to shops and a 20min walk to the beach. There is an amazing Coastal Boardwalk which we did while here it goes from Coolum to Point Arkwright and on a pleasant day with all the kids back at school, no humidity and not too hot it was ideal. The home has nice grounds and plants, much bird life as there is a bushland just across the road in the mornings you see the old Bush Turkeys scrambling down the roadside. We also have a beautiful cat to car for her name is Theodora.

Poppy Moves

Poppy is at a friends house while we are not using it, we are very lucky as this same friend has offered to let us stay in her mothers home which is vacant while we are between house sits more on that one later. Therefore Poppy is up in the hinterland behind Yandina it is actually at a location called Ninderry, see above photo. The photo below is Poppy leaving Glenview.

Farewell Mishka

The day had arrived for me to head over to Coolum, I did not leave until about 3.00pm not wanting to leave the dog all day outside from early morning. I fed Skylah and left food and water for her outside on the verandah she was safe and could not get out so I didn't have to worry about her. Mishka was also left food and once I had the car outside and packed I could let her out of the garage, I had to make sure she was locked in the house and the internal garage door shut because when the owners arrived home around 9.30pm if she was in the garage she would do a runner. Skylah was so funny she stood on her back legs and watched me loading gear into the car thinking what's happening. As it was Easter weekend the owners left us a beautiful basket of goodies, wine,cheeses,crackers,chocolates and a nice card, we were very spoilt.

And Down the Back

The last couple of days here at Glenview Brian and I had to split as we had the house sit starting at Coolum on the 1st April and the Glenview one didn't finish until the 3rd April. This all came about as our friends decided they would come home earlier than originally planned, therefore we took Glenview and did not want to miss out on it so we had both houses to look after. It worked out fine Brian went to Coolum for 2nights on his own and I went back to Glenview it was better for me to be there to do the last minute cleaning. I used to take Skylah down the back to the dam for a run in the late afternoon she would run down the hill so fast she only just stopped ending up in the dam herself, infact one afternoon she was running after some Plover birds and she didn't stop in she went so she had to have a hose off before coming inside. There were always birds around the dam, Ibis, Herons, Shags, Plovers and always Kookaburra's, Lorikeets etc, it was always pleasant.

Birdlife and the Beach

There was not a day go by that we had birds sitting in the trees at eye level (with the house being raised), kookaburra would come daily sometimes 1 or 2 and sometimes 3 or 4. I spent many hours watching them. We also took Skylah to the beach she was not sure of the water however we did manage too coax her in up to her knees, she thought it was way more fun to dig holes in the wet sand, we had to call into the shopping mall on the way home and while I sat in the car with her while Brian went in the look on Skys face said it all - well where is he off to. Getting her home I then had to coax her into the shower to wash her down from the saltwater - now that was fun it took ages to get her in but once in she just stood there even when I got out to dry off she waited patiently until I was ready to dry her.

 

 

 

Just Luvin It Here

Glenview near the Etamogah Pub and Aussie World on the Sunshine Coast, close to everything actually - Sippy Downs, Caloundra, Little Mountain, Mooloolaba and Marrochydore, as this house sit is actually just a fill in before we head to Coolum it is fast coming to an end. We have really enjoyed being here, nice modern home, large plot of land,birds and wildlife a plenty. The animals are great company, the cat stays away from us and the dog most of the time however she does venture into the lounge if the dog is sleeping at night time, but as for Miss Skylah she is always wanting to be with you, she loves curling up on the lounge couch so she can sprawl on your lap.

Glenview House Stay

March 24/03/16

Well the weather is still warm during the day however we have noticed the evenings and the mornings have cooled off. We moved as planned to our next housesit here at Glenview on Tuesday - took all off 5min drive. No hassels have the caravan here with us which we will take to friends on the 31st. We have a lovely outlook from the back patio as you would have seen from the previous photos posted. We have Mishka the cat and Skylah the dog to mind, both mainly indoor animals (which I cann't get my head around) the dog is out during the day however the cat is never allowed outside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she would dearly love to get out the doors and even sits up on the bathroom window sill looking out through the screen window, she sits at the slider doors and peers out through the screen, we have a note on the door reminding us to close the door so that Mishka doesn't get out - she already has once however Brian managed to coax her back in. She goes missing and we cann't find her and it is panic stations until she is located. Other than that nothing to report really, staying off the roads over the weekend as all the idiots will be out in force. New passports arrived today so all legal once again, doubt we will have to renew them as these are 10year ones.

We Move On Tuesday

March 19th 

Our friends are due back earlier than we had thought so we had to find somewhere to go. They want to be back before Easter. We did not want to have to go into the caravan as it is still very warm and over Easter all the van parks will be noisy and too expensive, its school holidays here also. However fortunately for us a house sit came up over in Glenview not a 5min drive, it is a young kiwi couple heading back to NZ for 2wks and they have a modern home, dog and cat to mind. We head there on Tuesday taking the caravan with us for 2wks. While there we will take the caravan to a friends house at Yandina, she and her husband have offered to have Poppy there as they have a lard property. From Glenview we head to Coolum for 2wks which will be nice. We do have to split for 2 nights but that is not a bother.
So into packing, cleaning mode here now for our move on Tuesday - will update one there.
Brian's report from the hospital was pretty darn good, but back to see surgeon on Wed 23rd and will see what happens from that visit. Still very warm here, bit shitty humid and apparently we are in for a storm later today.

Sirromet Winery (it's out of order- sorry)

Hi all just a few pics of the gorgeous Sirromet Winery, while at Capalaba we took ourselves off to have a look, only 5min drive from Capalaba.

We shared a Devonshire Scone and had a coffee before heading back to the house, it was a very hot day.
