Two Styx Here We Come

24th October 2016

Left Ballina round 9.30am and we are heading to Ebor today via Grafton. An easy start getting from the motel back onto the highway again heading south then inland to Grafton. We filled our flask for a cuppa stop on the way and off we headed. The weather was great as the forecast was for rain, we went prepared so no worries. Headed into Grafton to Aldi to do our shopping for the week as there is nothing at Ebor, no corner store, no nothing, not even an ATM. Shopping done we headed out of Grafton and found a nice spot to pull off for a cuppa and a bite to eat. We arrived at the turnoff to Ebor - in the New England National Park. After a short drive we came up gravel road, it continued for the next 12kms until we arrived at the sign and turnoff for Two Styx Cottages. By this time it was around 3.00pm,weather still good however a bit chilly as we were up at altitude. First thing was get the key from the keysafe attached to the wall, find the jug and boil for a cuppa. Car unloaded, bed made, supplies put away, cuppa and a sandwich we went for a walk to the dam on the property. By about 5.00pm it was a tad chilly so the log burner was lit. No internet,no tv, no mobile coverage,it was books, cards and early to bed - lol, well we did have wine, wine, wine and cider all good. The cottage below is the one we stayed in it is called "Flame Robin" see photos below why. There two cottages on the property like Flame Robin, the other is called"Lyrebird" and there is a 4 bedroom house with all mod cons, ideal for families or groups. The one we stayed in was $100pnight, we had it paid before we even went there so that was good, I love how they let you do that. We saw a few Flame Robins flitting around the cottage and sitting on the fences
