St George

6 - 12 July:

St George is a town of approximately 3,800 people in Queensland, The town is 390 kilometres due west of Brisbane and the Gold Coast and sits just inside the region of South West Queensland, St George is situated on the Balonne River in southern inland Queensland. It is the major town of the Balonne Shire, beautiful country gardens, street scapes and a river walkway are features of the town. The riverside walk can be entered from The Terrace (St Georges Terrace) via cement footpaths, there is seating and exercise equipment for public use if you so desire - at times of sunrise and sunset it is particularly nice to enjoy the atmosphere of the river gums, landscaping and bird life. The local weather is mostly sunny. You can expect hot summer days (+34.2 degrees) and cold winter nights (-5.5 degrees). In this region, rainfall is highly variable, the annual average rainfall is 516 mm with the wetter months during summer. The weather pattern is one of droughts and flooding rains,in 2011-12-13 saw St George with major floods. In the 7nights we have spent here the weather has been great, although we have had a couple of brief showers at night-time it has not stopped us getting out and about during the day. We checked into the Kamarooka Caravan Park a great park, clean and tidy and super clean amenities, the showers actually have sliding shower doors on them so no getting out into a wet area, we have a great spot along the back fence which gets the sun most of the day. They were offering a deal stay for 6nights get the 7th free so we decided to do the 7nights. Each night they have a camp fire which is great although some of the older ones are a bit clicky as they are all camped next to each other so like to take over the campfire area.

Below is our spot at Kamarooka Caravan Park

Damper afternoon tea for all  - only had to take a cup and chair.
